The Art of Fragrance Layering | Lot 23 Chandler Co.

A single fragrance can feel like a signature. Layering gives you room to change its expression—a little brighter for the morning, softer for an afternoon, or warmer for an evening out.

At Lot 23 Chandler Co., we approach scent as a personal expression. Start with fragrances you enjoy, explore how they feel together, and let your preferences guide you.

What is fragrance layering?

Fragrance layering means wearing two or more scented products together. You might pair a perfume with a scented body lotion or wear two perfumes to explore a different effect.

Blending creates a fragrance within the bottle. Layering brings finished fragrances together as you wear them.

Start with two fragrances

Choose a perfume you already know and enjoy. Think about what you would like to bring to it: freshness, softness, warmth, or depth.

Then choose one companion fragrance. Starting with two makes it easier to notice what each contributes and whether you like the combination.

An unscented moisturizer can keep your body-care routine from adding another competing scent.

Find a connection between the notes

A shared note or a complementary mood can give you a starting point. Try these directions using finished perfumes:

• A floral perfume with a woody fragrance for a warmer expression.
• A citrus fragrance with a soft musk for a fresh, gentle pairing.
• A vanilla-led perfume with a woody or spicy fragrance for added depth.

These are ideas to explore. Each perfume is already a complete composition, so the result depends on the fragrances you choose.

Apply lightly and adjust

Smell each fragrance separately first. Then try them together on scent strips before deciding whether to wear the combination.

On skin, begin with a light application of each. Give the fragrances time to settle before adding more. If one dominates, use less of it next time.

You can also apply the perfumes to separate areas, allowing their scents to mingle as you move. There is no fixed order that works for every pairing.

Give the combination time

Your first impression is only part of the experience. Notice the scent again after it settles and later in the day.

Does one fragrance take over? Does the pairing feel comfortable? Would you enjoy wearing it again?

Keep a short note of the perfumes and amounts you used. It makes a favorite combination easier to revisit.

Let your mood lead

For daytime, you might enjoy something airy and understated. For date night, you might prefer a warmer or more intimate combination.

You can also choose to wear a favorite perfume alone. Layering is another way to explore your fragrance wardrobe whenever curiosity strikes.
