Scent of the Quarter: Vespers No. 11 — A Study of Ritual
Some scents invite you to begin. Others invite you to pause.
This quarter, our spotlight turns to Vespers No. 11 — A Study of Ritual, a candle from Lot 23 Chandler Co.’s Provenance collection. Its story centers on the small moments that mark the transition from a busy day to an evening of your own.
Why Vespers?
Vespers takes its name from evening—a fitting starting point for a fragrance imagined around slowing down.
Think of the moment you put your phone aside, choose a record, or settle into a favorite chair. Lighting a candle can become a simple way to give that moment your attention.
Inside the scent
Our Vespers blend pairs Nocturna with Frankincense & Myrrh, bringing together a nocturnal mood and the character of aromatic resins.
Frankincense and myrrh offer an evocative reference point: incense, stillness, and spaces set apart for reflection. Within Vespers, that inspiration becomes a scent for the home and the rituals you make there.
Fragrance is personal. What feels contemplative to one person may remind another of a place, a gathering, or a familiar evening.
Make room for a small ritual
You don’t need a special occasion to enjoy Vespers. Choose a moment you would like to make more intentional:
• Reading a few pages at the end of the day.
• Listening to a favorite playlist.
• Welcoming someone for an unhurried conversation.
• Taking a quiet pause before the evening begins.
Let the ritual be simple enough to return to.
A study of provenance
Our Provenance collection explores the relationships between scent, place, identity, and memory.
Vespers brings ritual into that conversation. It asks how a familiar fragrance can become part of the way we inhabit a room—and how repeated moments can give that fragrance meaning over time.
