FUMED Atlanta 2026: Independent Perfume, Artistry, and Discovery

Atlanta’s fragrance community had a reason to gather on October 10–11, 2026. FUMED Indie Perfume Expo brought independent perfumery to Pullman Yards, creating a weekend dedicated to discovering fragrances and the people behind them.

For collectors, curious newcomers, and anyone exploring niche perfume in Atlanta, the event offered an introduction to scent beyond familiar retail counters. Its focus placed the fragrance itself—and the creative decisions behind it—at the center of discovery.

At Lot 23 Chandler Co., that attention to individual expression connects with our own approach to fragrance. A perfume can begin with a place, a feeling, or a memory. Understanding its story can change how you experience what is inside the bottle.

What was FUMED Indie Perfume Expo?

FUMED is an independent perfume expo built around artisan fragrance brands, their creators, and the community interested in their work. Its Atlanta edition was held at Pullman Yards, Building Six, at 225 Rogers Street NE.

The organizers emphasized access to founders and perfumers, alongside opportunities to explore collections, small-batch fragrances, and previews. That format gives fragrance discovery another dimension: the opportunity to connect a composition with the person responsible for its direction.

A note list can describe a perfume’s ingredients or impressions. A conversation with its creator can reveal why those elements belong together, what inspired the composition, and what the fragrance was intended to express.

Independent perfume brands on the Atlanta lineup

FUMED’s announced lineup included Maya Njie, Chris Collins, Savoir Faire, Pearfat Parfum, Anjali Perfumes, and numerous other independent fragrance houses. The range of names provided a starting point for exploring different creative perspectives rather than searching for one universally appealing scent.

Harlem Perfume Co. also announced its participation, describing FUMED Atlanta as its first United States perfume trade show. Its event information highlighted the opportunity to smell fragrances in person and meet the surrounding fragrance community.

For someone beginning a fragrance collection, an exhibitor lineup can become a discovery list to revisit afterward. Choose a few houses that interest you, explore their official descriptions, and consider samples before committing to a full bottle.

Why meeting the maker matters

Independent perfumery invites a closer look at creative intention. A fragrance might explore an unusual texture, a remembered landscape, or an intimate detail from everyday life. Learning that intention gives you another way to approach the scent.

It also encourages more useful questions. Instead of asking only whether a perfume is popular, consider what makes its composition distinctive. What changes after the opening settles? Which part of its character holds your attention? Does the fragrance express something you want to wear?

You do not need professional terminology to participate. Descriptions such as airy, dry, warm, green, or softly sweet can communicate your experience. Your response is the beginning of a conversation, even when it differs from someone else’s.

How to continue your fragrance discovery after FUMED

A perfume expo can introduce more fragrances than you can comfortably evaluate at once. Afterward, give the scents that interested you another opportunity to develop.

If you collected samples, revisit them individually. Record the fragrance name, your first impression, and what you notice later. This makes it easier to distinguish a memorable opening from a composition you enjoy throughout its wear.

Look for patterns in your preferences. Perhaps several favorites share a woody texture, a floral character, or a restrained sweetness. Those observations can help you explore your next fragrance with more direction.

Allow room for surprises, too. Enjoying one perfume does not mean every fragrance in the same family will appeal to you. The complete composition matters more than a single familiar note.

From perfume discovery to perfume making in Atlanta

Discovering an independent fragrance and creating your own perfume are different experiences, but both reward attention to scent.

At Lot 23 Chandler Co., our guided perfume-making class in Atlanta invites guests to explore fragrance materials, develop a personal direction, and create a custom 30 mL Eau de Parfum. The experience gives you a practical way to investigate the preferences you notice while sampling finished perfumes.

You might arrive interested in something fresh and understated, warm and textured, or connected to a particular memory. Testing and guidance help turn that starting idea into decisions about your composition.
